This week (Oct. 9-13) was dedicated to fire safety and fire protection: “Fire prevention week”. This year’s theme is: “Cooking safety starts with YOU!” We had the pleasure of welcoming for yet another year the firefighters from the American Military Base (NSA Souda Bay) on Friday October 13th, who informed the children of our Kindergarten and Elementary School in regards. With their help, the students learned how a fire can start from the kitchen, how we should react and what precautions should be taken. We learned that the fire extinguisher is very useful. They also became familiar with the uniform of a firefighter and stopped being afraid of his appearance. Βoth teachers and students were greatly interested in the presentation and participated enthusiastically. Sparky, the firefighter dog, handed out souvenirs, information leaflets, stickers and children’s fire helmets to the children. Many thanks to the firefighters who shared their knowledge with us and gave us another such experiential lesson!
